Sample Rules

CT Scan
  1. Flag for immediate intervention if
    • CT scan shows a hyperdense area in an arterial territory suggestive of acute ischemic stroke and
    • The patient presents with sudden onset neurological symptoms
Blood Levels
  1. Monitor closely for hyperglycemia-related complications if
    • Blood glucose levels are above 180 mg/dL in a patient presenting with acute stroke symptoms and
    • Age is greater than 25
Hypertension
  1. Initiate blood pressure management to reduce the risk of further complications if
    • A patient with a history of hypertension has a blood pressure above 150/90 mmHg during an acute stroke episode
Diabetes
  1. If a patient with diabetes has a hemoglobin A1c level above 7% during an acute stroke episode, initiate closer monitoring and optimization of glucose control to reduce the risk of recurrent strokes.
